The quote above, the Vermont Special Olympic
6 Hour Spinning Marathon event I completed this weekend and
the outpour of generosity from the folks below to support this
charity reminds me of just a few important things.
~ I am truly lucky and blessed to live an a small community surrounded
by generous and loving people. The folks listed below are leaders
in finding it in their hearts to give to others with a strong belief
of what you give away will come back to you over and over again!
I share this belief and I am so thankful for your sponsorship of
this event. We raised over $6000! www.vtso.org
~ As I rode for 6 hours amongst special Olympic athletes, master
spinning instructors, fit & healthy people and those changing
their lives with a fit & healthy attitude .... I was again
remind why I love assisting folks in maintaining a fit, balanced,
healthy lifestyle. The diversity of folks at this event filled
the room with an attitude of each and every one of us can do it.
We can find our way.
~ Lastly, I continued to smile, laugh and enjoy the fact that
the truly best part of health is you can use it so help others.
It can be a Special Olympic 6 Hour Spinning Marathon or it can
simply be you have more energy each and every day to help others
in any way you choose. Your health, fitness and energy ... are
yours... are directed by your thoughts .... your habits.. your
beliefs ... you can then use all those things in any place you
choose .... BUT... what a great choice to help others! Nothing
feels better.... Nothing can compare!

The
Upper Valley Haven
The Upper Valley Haven is a private, non-profit human services
organization located in White River Junction, Vermont, offering
emergency shelter for families, a food shelf, clothing room, and
educational programming to those struggling to meet their basic
needs. All Haven services are provided free of charge to those
with a demonstrated need.
The Haven relies primarily on the generosity of individual donors
for its support. Over 70% of annual operating funds are provided
by individuals, with the balance coming from foundations, churches,
businesses, civic groups, and government agencies.
On May 8, 2004, the Haven moved into its new building, located
immediately adjacent to its previous location on Hartford Avenue
(Route 5). This facility houses all Haven operations, and allows
it to offer its services more efficiently, effectively, and abundantly
than before.
YOU CAN HELP! If you are selling or buying a house, now you can
redirect a portion of your real estate commission to the Upper
Valley Haven. It costs you nothing. To find out more, click here.

Dear Riders:
On behalf of the Vermont Foodbank, I’d like to extend my
most sincere appreciation for your participation in the 2007 Harpoon
Point to Point! This 6th annual ride was truly a success!
Your dedication to this event is beyond compare and we praise your
commitment, your energy, and your talent!
The $34,774 raised through this event reflects countless
hours of your hard work! As you know, we are able to acquire and
distribute three pounds of food for every dollar we receive. Through
The Harpoon Point to Point, we will be able to provide 104,332
pounds of food or 79,980 meals to Vermonters in need.
Increasing Vermonters’ awareness of the hunger that plagues
our state is key to ending hunger in Vermont. Each Point to Point
Rider significantly assists us in this effort. By participating
in this ride, you have educated your friends, families, and neighbors
about the problem of hunger in our state.
Thank you for all of the long hours you put into training for
this event, all of the pledge money you raised, and all of the
sweat and determination you put into pedaling 25, 50, or 110 miles
on ride day! You made The 2007 Harpoon Point to Point a
remarkable accomplishment. I am convinced that through your continued
support we will someday celebrate a hunger-free Vermont together.
Sincerely,
Douglas L. O’Brien
